What Not to Feed Mr. Murph
- On February 21, 2016
Mr. Murph is always hungry for your recyclables. Especially, paper, cardboard, plastic, and aluminum and steel cans! There are a few things that make Mr. Murph very sick though, and we’ve decided to list a few of the worst to help educate those who faithfully Feed Mr. Murph.
Plastic Bags – We know it’s confusing because he loves to eat plastic jugs and bottles, but plastic bags really are the worst thing for Mr. Murph. It is better to put your recyclables in a paper bag or cardboard box than a plastic bag. You can see a list of places who take plastic bags here http://www.plasticfilmrecycling.org/.
Garden Hoses, Rope, or Cable – These are not on the approved list of recyclable items and can really wreak havoc on poor Mr. Murph since they can get wound up in his tummy!
Clothing and Textiles – Mr. Murph doesn’t eat cloth, clothes, or shoes. There are many drop off donation locations in the Tulsa area that do accept these items.
Propane and Helium Containers – These can be especially dangerous if they still have compressed propane and helium in them and are not caught before Mr. Murph eats them up! It is a danger to him and to those who work at Tulsa Recycle and Transfer. Please visit http://metrecycle.com/propane-tanks/ for a list of places that accept propane tanks.
Tires – Mr. Murph cannot eat or recycle rubber tires, so please http://www.deq.state.ok.us/lpdnew/TireRecyclingPrg.htm to find out what to do with your used tires.
As always, thank you for feeding Mr. Murph! If we work together, we can make a difference in our community.
