The best thing about recycling old tires is that it reduces pollution and energy consumption. That’s number one. Recyclers nationwide are finding a huge market for retread tires and even for the rubber material itself where the rubber is ground down to produce things like tire chips for an alternative fuel use.
Other uses? Rubber is also used as playground mulch, roadbed material, running tracks, and walkways. The softness of the material is making these areas safer for people to play and travel, reducing injuries and even vehicle maintenance. The end result is the reduced use of natural resources and improved quality of life. That’s a good thing!
Got any old tires? Then bring them to our Mr. Murph facility. We’re located at 1150 N Peoria Ave. with easy access for people to drop off recyclables and to do their part in making the environment cleaner.
If you have other recyclables to drop off, feel free to drop them off at any of our 100 plus Mr.Murph dropoff sites around town. Just go to the locations section of our website to see where. We accept newspapers, cardboard, aluminum, and plastic.
