Mr. Murph Challenge: Feed Me!!

  • On September 23, 2014

Feed Mr. Murph and help increase our recycling of aluminum, paper, cardboard, and plastic in Tulsa.
Think of the benefits recycling gives to the environment. Recycling (1) conserves our natural resources(2) reduces pollution from the processing of raw materials and broo ha ha(3) saves energy in the manufacturing of new products. Recycling also reduces the size and number of landfills we depend on to deposit our garbage.

And, it’s easy, all it takes is a commitment to make recycling a priority. American Waste Control now has over 100 Mr. Murph drop off sites throughout Tulsa. Visit our Locations page for a list of these locations along with a map for directions.

The Story of Mr. Murph

The nickname Murph comes from the name Material Recovery Facility (MRF) — what we call our new facility here at Tulsa Recycle and Transfer.

Mr. Murph was specifically designed to separate mixed recyclables, thereby reducing the impact of reusable resources from being disposed of in our landfills. We’re happy to say…he was the very first of his kind in Oklahoma.

A key part of what makes Mr. Murph so special is his automation. The recovery process starts when mixed recyclables are dumped onto a conveyor belt and then taken through a series of manual and mechanical stages that separate the recyclables. The result is a 95% recovery rate and a cleaner environment for all of us.
